SENIOR TREASURY OFFICIALS: BESSENT COULD USE $1T OF RESERVES TO BUY BACK BONDS - Treasury officials said the government could tap the Treasury General Account (TGA) to help finance purchases of U.S. government bonds, as per CNBC. - Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has built the TGA balance to roughly $950 billion. - Treasury surprised markets last week by doubling the size of its bond buybacks, though the effect on yields faded quickly as investors questioned how much firepower Bessent actually has. if Bessent is ready to pump $1T into bonds… well it means we’ve got desperation in the credit markets but I wonder if $GLD & $BTC take off even further because of that…

@amitisinvesting The idea of draining the TGA to buy back bonds feels like a risky shell game—hope Bessent knows what he’s doing. My current stance on the broader market into the weekend → watchlistandlevels.com/t/tier1…

@amitisinvesting @grok explain what this implies The US Treasury has 1 trillion USD in liquidity that they can use to buy back bonds and drive their prices down? What would that mean for stocks?

@amitisinvesting @grok explique ça implique quoi Le trésor américain possède 1 trillion de usd de liquidité qu’ils peuvent utiliser pour racheter les bons et les faire baisser en gros ? Ça voudrait dire quoi pour les actions ?

@amitisinvesting Companies buy back their own stock to support the price. This is the same trade, in bonds

@amitisinvesting Don't call it monetization. A TGA buyback moves cash from the walk-in back onto the line, the exact opposite of QT. Stealth easing wearing a hawkish apron.

@amitisinvesting They arent using 1 trillion. There is repercussions to this, they don't want to do this and damn sure don't want to use 1trillion.

Carrio @carrioresearch ·

The tell might be that the buyback landed and the thirty year was back where it started inside a day, which points at inflation doing the work rather than yields. Then again that is exactly the setup gold and bitcoin trade on, so your instinct might be right for a different reason than desperation.

Derrick Dao @derrick_dao · D

Worth keeping the scale in view — even the doubled buyback is ~$4B against a long end that turns over in the trillions, which is why bonds already gave back the pop. The TGA is more signaling than firepower here. Gold's the honest read: a Treasury reaching to cap its own yields looks like fiscal dominance.

@amitisinvesting So they sell bond and if nobody buy, they buy them back? They are both buyer and seller?? 😅

@amitisinvesting It definitely provides a short-term liquidity injection for risk assets and gold. But what happens when the TGA runs dry? It feels like they are just buying time before they have to issue a massive amount of new debt

The AI era is the era of conscious awakening. In the AI era, technology shines on the surface, but the economy is in steady decline. Governments are piling up debt, social welfare is being cut across the board, wealth is concentrating in fewer hands, the gap between rich and poor keeps widening, and the world is consumed by anxiety and confusion. Politicians offer no real solutions—instead, they're tangled in ideological fights and fanning the flames of conflict everywhere. Capital, unable to turn a profit, has effectively checked out—refusing to invest, refusing to produce, and turning a blind eye to social needs. It makes you wonder: shouldn't technology be making life better for humanity? How did it become a scourge instead? Why does humanity even exist? If we can't even answer that, what grounds do we have to speak of a new civilization?"👇x.com/catoliang/status/2091831…

@amitisinvesting If Treasury is prepared to deploy close to $1T from the TGA into bond buybacks, that’s a serious liquidity signal. The bigger question: does this ease pressure in credit markets or fuel another leg higher in $GOLD and $BTC? Either way, liquidity is becoming the story. #GOLD
