Early bull run and I already messed up my best trade opportunity: Bought ZEC at $50 but instead of holding I tried to trade and missed the last run up. Even with my small bet it would've been 17x But back then ZEC as much harder hold than now. Lyn Alden warned against $ZEC coordinated pump last year. Foundation had a 'civil war' and ZEC retraced 73% from Nov highs. Yet ZEC is close to a consensus CT hold. Doesn't feel like a coordinated pump anymore. ZEC is a perfect example of a mix of a memecoin's memetics and tech features that fit into current macro/political environment. I'd probably could say a moral of diamond hand HODLing but for 1 zec there are 100s of fails. Instead, study ZEC's growth as a caste study of how narrative emerges (post in the comments).
In a twisted way X algo works, I ended up buying $ZEC. First I saw @mert mention he holds ZEC. I engaged with the post. Then the algo started feeding me more $ZEC content, especially from @ssaintleger who is a big bull. At the same time I was posting about privacy and zk tech like @payy_link. The algo connected the dots: Ignas likes privacy, crypto, zk → Ignas must like $ZEC. ZEC is a dinosaur coin from 2016 with confidential transactions as the main pitch. At $822M market cap it is a niche but small enough for upside. If I am seeing more ZEC posts, maybe others are too. That is how narratives start: a random post + the right environment. In this case: • US turning pro-crypto (while EU still cracks down on privacy coins) • BTC, ETH, SOL at ATHs and degens hunting what is next • Privacy being pushed by the Ethereum Foundation and new L1s like Tempo focusing on private transactions Even a dinosaur coin can have its day when the catalysts line up. And I feel like degen trading again. LFG.
