$MSFT Bill Gates sold his foundation's 7.6M shares of Microsoft...at the bottom. +30% since then

@

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation sold 100% of their Microsoft $MSFT position… The guy who created Microsoft just had his foundation dump the entire stake, 7.6M shares. Either he thinks Microsoft is over or he completely hates valuations in tech right now 😂 https://x.com/amitisinvesting/status/2055393218867408906/photo/1

@amitisinvesting Shares didn’t cost him a dime

Mac Spelunki @MSpelunki ·

@amitisinvesting I think it’s more likely his sales caused the discount and selling pressures which was a gift to whoever was scooping up his shares down in the $350s

NoiselessTrading @neha041187 ·

@amitisinvesting The foundation sold as part of its planned endowment spend-down by 2045, not a directional call on MSFT. Bill Gates still holds a huge personal stake. Timing still looks rough though

Timothy McMenamin @TimMcMenamin87 ·

@amitisinvesting He needed the cash. He thought he was going to need to leave the country.

@amitisinvesting $MSFT always will be a great investment. They are at the leading edge of a lot of tech.

@amitisinvesting I'm up 30% on my MSFT shares. I must have bought around that time.

jim damas @DamasJim63541 ·

@amitisinvesting Pretty sure he’ll be fine with his 3.2 billion and he most likely knows somethings coming since 70% of Microsoft AI revenue is from openAI….

@amitisinvesting Any theory as to why they liquidated their position?

Nixon Nova @NixonNova ·

@amitisinvesting He'll be fine. He has been rich his whole life. And he is still worth >$100b

1
GenevaInvestor @GenevaInvestor ·

Man, Bill Gates' legacy aged so badly. The guy turned out to be both a sexual predator and an absolute retard in investing. He would still be the richest man on Earth if he simply kept $MSFT. And people still somehow criticize Musk? I wouldn't trust Gates with dogsitting, let alone to pour his wealth into causes actually worth something.

@amitisinvesting That's telling. The market really loves to mess with people, lol. On the other hand, $MSFT could have difficult time pushing past $500 mark. I'd expect it to sit on that for a while.

Allens Stock Insight @BrianReid11BR ·

@amitisinvesting Solid call. Foundation dumped the last 7.7M shares in Q1 near the lows — MSFT +30% since. Classic planned wind-down timing miss.

Imperial Investor @Imperialinvest0 ·

@amitisinvesting Useful reminder that even informed sellers are poor timing signals. A foundation’s portfolio mandate and diversification needs can matter more than its view on the next quarter. $MSFT

KMA @KMAHK94 ·

@amitisinvesting It’s funny how everyone is now talking about MSFT when no one wanted to touch it with a 10 foot poll a month ago

Emma Stock Notes @EmmaStockNotes ·

@amitisinvesting Bad timing for the Foundation, though foundation sales can serve a different purpose than a typical investor’s sale. Microsoft itself still screens as exceptional. x.com/EmmaStockNotes/status/20…

Jersey Boy @JerzyGardener24 ·

@amitisinvesting I hated MS DOS in 1983. It morphed into the parasitic Windows. If Gates could have stolen my soul, as well as my data, he would have done so.

@amitisinvesting Grok it. Not exactly the whole the story
