According to CryptoBriefing, if the proposal is approved, new domains will only be available for registration on ENSv2. Existing ENSv1 domains can continue to be renewed without being migrated, but expired domains can only be re-registered on ENSv2. Prior to the introduction of ENSv2, ENS Labs plans to reflect ownership information for existing domains in ENSv2 and transfer all ENSv2 management authority to the ENS DAO after the service launches. ENSv2 is an improved version with enhanced subdomain management and permission settings, and the renewal grace period after domain expiration is 28 days, shorter than the 90 days of ENSv1.
