[SWI Group Focuses on AI Data Centers Instead of BTC Mining] The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that SWI Group, which secured management control of Genesis Digital Assets—a Bitcoin (BTC) mining firm in which the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX had invested—is focusing on the artificial intelligence (AI) data center business instead of BTC mining. SWI CEO Max-Hervé Georges stated, "We have absolutely no interest in Bitcoin mining. We need funds to expand our computing infrastructure." According to the WSJ, SWI is pursuing plans to provide data centers in the U.S. and Sweden, acquired through the acquisition of Genesis Digital, to major cloud providers and has raised approximately $900 million to expand and improve its existing data centers. It is also in the process of selling its three remaining BTC mining facilities in Kazakhstan. Genesis Digital previously received over $1 billion in investment from Alameda Research, an affiliate of FTX. Following FTX's bankruptcy, the company became embroiled in a lawsuit for the return of the investment, but the lawsuit was withdrawn last June.
