Putin has no choice EU is goading for attacks on western Europe so they can launch a war backed by US power. UK is the fall guy, since it's no longer a functioning country and not EU. UK accepts their fate. Putin knows the game. His only option without WW3 is to take all of Ukraine.

Talks didn’t collapse. They never existed. Russia wants the land it claims. Ukraine won’t cede the land it still holds. The West won’t force either side to blink. Thus, the missiles keep flying which is not a new “escalation phase.” That’s the war. For the nuclear talks, those are mere rhetorics. The deeper story is winter energy hits are looming, and both sides think time is on their side
