HPC and trade[XYZ] Recommend that the CFTC Allow Energy Perpetual Contracts into the U.S. Market The Hyperliquid Policy Center (HPC) and trade[XYZ], a third-party market deployer on Hyperliquid, have submitted a comment letter to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). They recommend establishing a regulated U.S. market access pathway for crude oil and natural gas perpetual contracts, and support 24/7 trading. The two parties also recommend allowing stablecoins and tokenized traditional assets to be used as margin, and recognizing on-chain infrastructure for trading, clearing, and settlement.

@WuBlockchain This looks pretty interesting; it seems like it's going to be quite a spectacle for a while.

Worth keeping the word "comment letter" in view. This is a submission asking the CFTC to clarify, not an application awaiting approval. Their own text says it: bringing energy perps into the regulated market "requires no new legislation," and the five asks are to adopt, reaffirm, clarify, recognize and confirm — pointing back to the May CFTC order as existing authority. So the news is two private parties asking a regulator to restate what they argue is already permitted. Whether the Commission answers, and when, is the open part.

@WuBlockchain Energy perps filing is the kind of boring headline that ages well. Real liquidity wants real underlying exposure, not another meme wrapper.

@WuBlockchain The regulatory pathway is the headline. The real test is whether energy perps can attract sustained open interest and liquidity once offered in a compliant U.S. market. Approval without usage would be a very different signal.
