It’s scary how many people have asked me to promote their memecoins. I’ve often been offered X% of the supply just for a few bullish posts. If you see a memecoin suddenly popping up all over your timeline, just know there’s a good chance some KOLs already own a decent chunk of the supply. Riding the wave can be profitable, but there’s a reason why only a small percentage of people actually made serious money on Pumpfun. You’ll probably lose money trading memecoins. And even if you hit a big winner, chances are you’ll give most of it back eventually.
think one of the most EV+ things you can do is just immediately block any large account that is mostly focussed on memecoins i know it sounds harsh and you'd be blocking some ppl i consider friends, but i think it's true you miss some upside to being plugged in but what you are doing is dramatically increasing your surface area for potential loss (one could also argue gain i suppose) -you get led into bundles and scams -info asymmetry everywhere -you are taking a very different risk than the person who is posting (they have deals, earlier entries, crowds to shill to) -you also massively increase the likelihood of gambling addiction the other side is you completely fuck your brain. your expected returns go from beating tradfi to needing 7 figures over night, once you go too deep here it is really difficult to pull back and be grateful for portfolio growth crypto is already terrible with this, with memes you are on the extreme fringe of an already extreme fringe you also expose yourself to PnL screenshots of others who (allegedly) made big money on small bets in a short period of time every day someone has their best day, you don't want your feed filled with ppl flexing PnLs n that's kinda what influencers in that space have to do. losses are usually hidden, missed tweets are deleted memecoins are a mostly solved game, they are extremely efficient and the infrastructure that exists there reduces pretty much all edge you could expect to find unless you're one of the few you can also just long the infra (pump etc) instead of searching for microcaps if your thesis is liquidity continues ive made a fair amount of money on memes but they really don't interest me unless it is a certain part of the cycle or something unique happens (like robinhood chain ig is an example) all you really want is inefficiency, that's where money is to be made in crypto, once infra is built out money funnels to the few and it's bad r:r trench influenzas, like most others, have to say that there is always opportunity to be found. having someone who is incentivised to say this telling you about all the opportunity that you didn't seize upon is unlikely to result in you participating on here more profitably in general, just pick a lane. there's no crying in the casino. i like to add friction to potential loss, especially when im trying to improve. i think this is one of the easiest ways to be happier and more profitable on here over a long time horizon
