Per-asset fees add more complexity and could easily turn into a race to the bottom between deployers imo. Traders now have to compare fees, spreads, slippage and liquidity across multiple deployers before entering a trade. For me that plays right into hands of RFQ brokers. There, traders only care about the final price they get, no thin books, no slippage guessing & no fee maze. Not really a fan of this update from Jeff.

Sorry but this is just wrong on so many levels. First of all it's very weird to frame market competition as a "race to the bottom." Fees, spreads, and liquidity are jointly priced. A deployer who slashes fees but can't maintain a deep book delivers worse all-in execution. Flow leaves and the advantage evaporates. Even weirder is your take on RFQs because it's exactly backwards! RFQs don't eliminate fees, spreads, or slippage. They bury them inside the quote, where the broker captures the difference. You said it yourself: traders only care about the final price. Final price is precisely what transparent venues compete on, and per-asset fees let them compete on it harder. Ultimately, a deployer forced into one global fee scale has to overprice liquid assets or underprice illiquid ones. That mispricing is what actually pushes flow to RFQ desks, not this update.

@Henrik_on_HL Traders will just pick the most liquid option

@Henrik_on_HL Not sure it will end up being that big of a deal. Price discovery on fees will find equilibrium. Flexibility always better than not, and you might find markets are listed that wouldn’t otherwise be etc etc

@Henrik_on_HL Would you prefer every pair remain on growth mode indefinitely?

deww @deww400 ·

@Henrik_on_HL Wouldn’t this only be true if they could set their fees to below the 0.1x multiplier? The floor did not get any lower (In my head growth mode was always going to be permanent, so this doesn’t change anything apart from xyz maybe charging a tad bit more if they want)

@Henrik_on_HL You can trade with Hyperliquid's lowest fees, regardless of deployer, on HyperLink: hyperlink.xyz/
