one of the funniest things to happen to me recently was at a wedding friday night party. i arrive to the party and there's no music. the setup guy is incapable and confused. of all people trying to fix it, it's the bride trying to have the night be how she imagined it. i tell her to go have fun and i'll make sure it is fixed. the speaker is plugged in to the mic line, the bluetooth is off, the speaker is off, the mixer for the output is shutoff... not a single thing is correct. every time i try to correct one of the problems, the guy balks (not in english) that i don't know what i'm doing and it's not fixed yet. one by one I rewire the panel to the speaker, turn on the speaker, enable bluetooth, change the mix settings, and eventually... he produces a USB cable (that's definitely not right for this setups lol). In a few more steps, I get it paired, unmute the panel, unmute the phone, and we have her playlist set up for the rest of the night! i was reminded of this by the coldcard fiasco... even "simple things" like audio equipment workings are outside the grasp of someone whose job it is to set up. idiot proof is hard to do.
