Crypto updates you might have missed in July 2026: Points & airdrops: 1. Ondo Perps dropped their points. Traders seem genuinely happy with the distribution. 2. RISEx dropped their points too, and the reaction was the opposite. A lot of traders felt the distribution was strange, and many of them decided to stop trading on RISEx entirely. Exploitation: 1. AFX got drained for $24.15M. Attacker compromised their bridge validator keys, swapped it all into 12,467 ETH. There's an irony in this one that I'll cover in my next post. 2. Ostium got hit for $18M through a compromised oracle key. 3. Cascade got exploited for $1.3M on their CLS vault. That's over $43M gone from perp DEXs alone. July has now passed ~$97M in total hack losses, worse than June. Shutdown/Bankrupt news: 1. BitMEX is shutting down on September 23, 2026. The exchange that literally invented the perpetual swap is closing after 11 years, right as perps are having their biggest moment ever. Read that twice. 2. Movement Labs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy following the MOVE token scandal. Venture Capital: 1. Multicoin Capital unstaked a large amount of $HYPE, then shilled $ZAMA. Worth knowing: they co-led Zama's Series A back in 2024, so they're not exactly a neutral observer. 2. Selini Capital unstaked $HYPE as well, this one because Dreamcash sunset from HIP-3. Wild month. Exploits, a legend shutting down, a bankruptcy, and VCs quietly repositioning. Did I miss anything?
