The idea of an agentic browser built specifically for crypto sounds abstract at first but that's exactly what Donut is building. Browsers have barely changed in thirty years and in that same window crypto has become an entirely different beast. @DonutAI founder Chris Zhu framed it simply: if AI is becoming the interface for everything online then crypto needs a browser that's actually built for it. The team behind it is reason enough to take the vision seriously. Engineers from Meta AI, TikTok AI and Tencent AI came together with NYU Stern Professor Xi Chen and former Meta AI researcher Tim Fan as advisors. They raised 22 million dollars across two rounds in six months, a 7 million dollar pre-seed followed by a 15 million dollar seed, with BITKRAFT, Makers Fund, Sky9 Capital, Hack VC and Altos Ventures participating. Over 160 thousand people joined the waitlist in the first quarter alone. D0 is the first real product from that vision and it runs inside Telegram. Over 200 tools come together in a single conversation window covering token research, swaps on Solana and EVM chains, perpetual futures, DeFi protocol interactions and HyperLiquid trading. Under the hood there's a multi-model orchestration system that routes simple queries to lightweight models and automatically shifts to advanced reasoning models for complex analysis. The long term goal is a full product suite covering Chrome extension, web app, mobile app and a Chromium core browser to become the default execution layer for the on-chain economy.
