@yippun @chameleon_jeff Front end and data storage is not on chain. It relies on oracles that aggregate off-chain price data. If you’re reliant on a third party like a cloud provider you’re not fully on chain because they could cut you off in an instant!

Users have computer systems which also have processing power and storage. If there's none of these trading won't exist, you can't even interact with the blockchain. You think Ethereum chain don't rely on "computer and storage"? Data is already stored on chain and in the event something bad happens you can retrieve it on-chain and not Centralised exchanges. You can't win this debate.

Before I reply I’ll add that I’m wrong anyway because Jeff only referred to liquidations as full onchain my brain assumed a comma that isn’t there. I agree ETH doesn’t have decentralized compute and storage and partly why I began my journey to find the next frontier after BTC and ETH. I also want to think beyond DeFi and memecoins because I’m not a Finance expert at all!

Retarded take. The wicks reflect market mechanics: panic selling with market orders thins the order book, forcing prices to the only remaining orders at the bottom or the top of the book. Similarly, if you must sell a house urgently and only lowball buyers are available, you settle for less. Identical prices across exchanges result from arbitrage, where traders exploit price differences while staying neutral. But in chaos, even sophisticated market makers can't keep markets aligned in real time

There is a way to make everything decentralized and open sourced. What I believe the issue is though is people are just not ready for decentralized finance. They’d rather believe a black box (or a CEX) that can drain everything they have with a blink of an eye than get out of their comfort zone and actually use something where transparency and self custody is a priority.

What I would consider a chain to be decentralized chain has to have: - Open-sourced codebase (transparency on matching algorithms, liquidations, mark prices, etc), - Users having full custody of funds, - Decentralized set of validators and thousands of node operators, - Decentralized oracle providers (if perp trading is involved)

The core offering of the chain has to be decentralized. You can't have a decentralized blockchain without people having full access to their funds at all times. If that chain offers financial instruments, the matching engine, oracle prices, and liquidation logic HAVE to be transparent.
