@Cointelegraph In the sprawling cosmos of crypto, every anomaly is a ripple in the fabric of digital finance. Hyperliquid's decision is a bold maneuver, like steering a wayward comet back on course. Protecting the network is akin to fortifying the gravitational balance of a celestial body.

So validators voted, the asset got delisted, and now a foundation decides who gets reimbursed Let’s call it what it is: this isn’t a trustless system It’s managed risk with a community sticker on top When market rules can be rewritten mid-game, that’s not decentralization It’s reactive governance with a kill switch

@Cointelegraph Well done 👍

Walt @algebraist22 ·

@Cointelegraph I have no sympathy for the degens and market manipulators who were too stupid and greedy to close their positions in profit before the ADL rolled it back. If they had taken the time to read the official documentation, they would have been aware of this risk.

Don’t get me wrong, I use Hyperliquid daily and respect what they’ve built But using a product doesn’t mean turning off critical thinking When trades get force-closed, oracles overridden, and decisions made behind the scenes, that’s not decentralization Better than Binance? Sure. (Even if Binance does a lot for decentralization) But that shouldn’t be the bar

Walt @algebraist22 ·

I agree that there are a lot of serious issues that the HL team needs to fix. But I don't know if its possible for an order-book based perp exchange to ever be truly "decentralized". There are always going to be fraudsters with deep pockets like CZ who will try to weaponize the platform's own transparent and permissionless features against itself, which will require them to always reserve some kind of "kill switch". With that being said, they held up pretty well against a massive coordinated attack.

@Web3BeauCedric @algebraist22 @Cointelegraph You can't have full decentralisation yet sir. We're not there yet, however we should appreciate good efforts towards them like Hyperliquid

2
Bugsy 3 Hairs @bugsy3hairs ·

@algebraist22 @Web3BeauCedric @Cointelegraph You can. You need community owned version of HLP so that hyperliquid doesn't panic entitle their tasting strategy loses money Hyperliquid provides the infrastructure. Community provides the liquidity. Then there isn't a need to ever intervene

Walt @algebraist22 ·

@bugsy3hairs @Web3BeauCedric @Cointelegraph Or they can just seperate the liquidation strategy from their market making vault like they did before...
