Can Claude really reverse engineer / port videogames with ease? That's what they're saying about GTA 6

    Not happening anytime soon

This is going to age poorly for sure. What's stopping it happening to GTA6?

    not a chance

Imitate billions of dollars of development with a few prompts and copy the game? Unlikely. Port nagging engine troubles so it runs on PC? Probably. I mean it's an XBox game, practically already PC friendly code with a few hardcoded nuances on graphics etc.

PS5 emulation on PC has recently had some big advancements, so yeah it doesn't seem too crazy to think people might be able to get a port working in a matter of weeks.

But I read that gta 6 being digital only was a big problem for their specific pc / ps5 translation. Meaning they would have to crack many other things, quite different that what they do with some games already.

Especially since Rockstar and Sony know about the emulation stuff going on, I do think it's likely they'll do as much as they can to stop the game being cracked, and they may be successful. But we'll see I guess.

I wouldn't call it easy, but I would call it inevitable.

Do you think it may be able to do this before the actual release on PC, perhaps in a year from now? No one can know, it's conjecture, but this entire topic fascinates me.

Oh, assuredly, I'd give it no more than a month if I'm being honest. Listen, it's not really a matter of how easy it is, it's just that it's like they say, where there's a willy, there's a way. And plenty of people have willys for Lucia.

Agreed, I am sure there are already people preparing to attempt a port. Won’t take long especially with the demand.

I think it's possible but the resources required would be astronomical. No subscription plan users can afford 10000 parallel agents

Can it? Yes Will it? Maybe Will it be buggy? Yes Claude has cloned 7 Adobe apps and the Microsoft suite. None are perfect copies, but they are getting closer.

Like, there's no reason it has to be Claude. China is dropping mad new models this week, GLM-5.5, Qwen 4, StepFun... And, guess what, there's mad numbers of people who will work together to crack this.

Oh yeah. Reverse Engineer Anything is out there doing the work….

Maybe Fable 5.5 speed things up
  21. u/gurselaksel 1 5 hours ago
yes, mainly it will be ported that full de compile/reverse engineer. for example silent hill 1 -> https://github.com/SlickAmogus/silent-hill-decomp gta 6 has more interest so many people will try and do that. but one of the main feature for latest gta 5/6 is online content. so it is impossible to implement online features.

for personal use i was able to get various 1990s abandonware game sprites exported from pretty unusual packed formats. impressive process. good for archivists imo
