Is it a good idea to take any initiative, even when you don't have a job?

I'm a founder, if I say humbly, a part-time founder. For a lot of reasons I take the initiatives, but validating an idea and getting the first few customers also needs time. However, I also have to earn money (even if a little bit) initially, so you can call me a job-seeker too. What do you think, is it a good idea to work on my startup while job-seeking, or should I focus on only one thing?

it's not just a good idea, it might be the only way to stay sane. job hunting is a grind that makes you feel like you're just waiting for permission to exist. working on your startup in the gaps keeps your brain from turning to mush and reminds you that you're building something, not just filling out applications. just don't beat yourself up on days when all you manage is a doodle on a coffee cup and a single cold email.
