'You get paid to make a small number of high-quality decisions." How many actually matter in your week?

Bezos has said senior executives are paid for a small number of high-quality decisions rather than VOLUME, and that when a quarter gets praised, it was really baked years earlier... Looking back at my own year, I'd guess fewer than ten decisions actually changed the outcome: what to say no to, who to hire, what to stop selling. Everything else was execution that someone else could have run as well or better. Two questions for people running teams. How do you tell in the moment which decisions are the ones that matter, rather than in hindsight? And what have you done to protect your attention for them?
