I dropped the credit card requirement on my 14-day trial to see how it affects onboarding

A lot of micro-SaaS tools require a credit card upfront for free trials to filter for high-intent users, but for shop owners using their phones on the job, that step was too annoying. I changed the onboarding flow to a zero-card, 14-day trial for my barbershop analytics dashboard. It removed that step entirely, letting users test logging daily visits and tracking staff metrics immediately. How do other founders balance card-upfront vs open trials for non-tech industries?

It’s interesting you mention phone users cause that’s where the friction really kills conversion. Nobody wants to type card details in a tiny screen when they’re standing between customers. Did you notice any drop in the quality of trial signups or just more volume overall

Does the dashboard help after one day's visits, or do owners need a week of entries first? That would shape how I'd think about the trial.
