Built with Claude
I made a neo-vintage RTS with Claude
Hey all; real quick: I always wanted to make games. I was sick for a few days, I was sick of being sick, always wanted to try Claude (from hearing how amazing Opus 5.5 is); so I got the $200 tier and want to show where I'm at. It's one of the best things I've ever made, and it took me just one weekend.
First, I'm convinced that the $200/month Claude subscription (at least as of right now) is one of the best things you can try, even if it's just for a month. The amount of subsidized usage included in that tier is INSANE.
I started this project late Friday afternoon and now it's late Sunday night.
from 0 to what's on the video; Claude wrote it. I'm a bit embarrassed to say I haven't even opened VSCode once for this project.
* Engine and game logic separation
* Browser compatibility
* Customizable maps
* Isometric 2.5D terrain system
* Pathfinding algorithms
* Sprite engine
* Sound engine
* Ability to save and replay games
* Multiplayer compatibility
...and all I had to do was prompt it to give me implementation options to choose from, or describe a specific design I had in mind, and it just did it.
For RTS fans: One of the gameplay mechanics I wanted to explore is the relationship between drones and electronic warfare. Drones are cheap, plentiful, and incredibly dangerous if your units aren't properly protected by jammers (via Engineers). Even when you've pushed an opponent into a corner, if they still have a lot of resources, they can quickly pump out drones to buy themselves time to regroup and rebuild a proper force.
Aside from the SFX and many of the terrain tiles (which I plan to recreate), basically everything else was made by me with the help of AI.
**Total cost: around $500**
* **$200** | Anthropic Claude: Code
* **$30** | Suno: Music
* **$11** | ElevenLabs Creator: Voices
* **$60** | Google Nano 2 Pro credits: UI artwork
* **$60** | Tripo AI: 3D models
* **$100** | SFX kits (not AI)
I'm hoping to release the project as open source soon! Thanks for looking!
