Feast your eyes onto my options gains

Long position at 55 and short at 125. I opened this position in early 2026, added more to it when the orange man invaded Iran, took some profits off the table later, so that’s why the cost basis is so low. My full account is worth $600,000, I started with $78,000 as a roll over from TD Ameritrade in nov 2023, made all that in profits including $130,000 total net withdraws from options trading in the past 3 years. You can leave your question in the comment section about options trading and I’ll answer the best I can.

So you're short deep otm calls and long deep itm. What was your strategy or intention when you opened the position? What is the actual plain English expectation that you had? TQQQ would be bound between those two ranges? Nicely done.

I started with long, after the bounce back from Iran invasion, TQQQ took off, for a little while it was straight up, I felt like at one point it was too fast and I wanted to lock in my profits so I sold a short to capture some of it.

How does selling short lock in profits in the scenario? I don’t understand that part

Imagine TQQQ price go from 55 to 75, it has incurred 20 worth of profits on it. At any given time, TQQQ can roll back and give back some of the profits you incurred. Imagine now at 75 you sell short a certain amount of calls at 75, if at this moment TQQQ starts to roll back, then the 75 short call would cost less to recover, thus locking. In some of that total 20 dollars profit. Hope that explains.
