1. If Phil or Travis Knight does not take NIKE private, this is not a turnaround story. 2. Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger could see it.

Phil's family has still large influence on NIKE - in fact, they get to determine 8 out of 11 board of directors thanks to amount of Class A shares they hold. My view is so far, they havent done anything and I am not sure if they will intervene. If they dont either changing the CEO, the board, or taking the company private - I am not sure I can have faith in NIKE. I stumbled upon 1990s video of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. They are being asked why they didnt invest in the company, their response was they didnt understand even if they tried and they couldnt see where the company would be in 20 years or so. I did some calculation since that question asked on May 4, 1998, NIKE was trading at 6.02$, it annualized return would have been 6.4% by now. Good job Warren and Charlie, you are still the GOATs.

Well Charlie Munger passed so I doubt he’s making any moves and buying a business with deteriorating product quality and a has-been brand that nobody relates to anymore isn’t exactly Buffett’s playbook

This is that same Nike guy who said it wouldn't go below 40. Hilarious how committed you are to this terrible assessment of the company. For what it's worth where I live they just pulled the plug on a new Nike automated warehouse which is surely another indicator that it's not going well. Anyway I'm sure we will be reading some new prediction from you flogging the same old dead horse this time next week, good luck with your investment choices. You will need it

What's the turnaround strategy? No one is going to pay a premium to take it private if they don't see a clear path to valur creation, even the family itself...

agreed. there is no strategy, that is my whole point

The strategy? Have an insane small basketball player come in, sign with them, be the best player in the NBA.  Curry’s dominance with kids over the last handful of years has just chipped away at the core Nike business, basketball shoes.

Buffett and munger did buy another shoe business, Dexter, that bankrupted due to offshoring. Buffet lost $17.8 billion in Berkshire shares on that deal. If they had bought Nike at $34 they still have $34 today plus dividends.

I wore Jordan’s and Nikes exclusively for 30+ years. This year I’ve bought new balances and on clouds instead. Nike is dead.

Take private most likely outcome but might as well wait
