Pretty regarded theory

Okay I'm going to give it to all of you in a very short and sweet format. If this has been talked about extensively I apologize but I haven't really seen much speculation around this personally and I think there is a top of potential this happens. What is the benefit of RC buying eBay? Sure there is a name,l that's recognizable and that is worth something but hear me out. What if GameStop creates its own EBAY? LC just posted about reverse engineering everything RC has posted about don't be first but do it better i believe. Etc. Fundamentally it could be created from scratch and improved upon probably relatively easily these days. Then when eBay stock price sinks RC can swoop in and buy it

Interesting thought you pose. Would it be easier to buy an established business and fix it vs building one from scratch? Time will tell.

It'd be harder to make your own eBay than to buy it for synergies. Brand recognition, established loyal users and businesses that are already integrated. eBay is a nice recession play as well since people love used goods when budgets are tight. Could see growth even in tumultuous times, or as the k-shaped economy continues to put pressure on those less fortunate. I guess meta kinda did it in a way withe facebook marketplace, but that's not the same either and they already had a platform full of users.

GameStop, back on June 23, as part of getting the authorized share increase approved Sid that with a week they would publish a detailed explanation of the strategic rationale for the acquisition and also. Detailed operating plan for the combined company. 3-1/2 months later this strategic rationale has never been published. I thought about this as well. They def can make their own, but the point of buying eBay is for the user base imo
