META. Starting to look for good entries for puts. This company is a joke

Nearly two trillion market cap. New AI model that absolutely violates Reddit scraping rules, disregards its consumers, and is setting money on fire to “capture” market share in the AI space. Unless the compute cost comes down by several orders of operation there is no way they are going to be able to turn a profit on AI given the immense cost of what it does and how little they receive from the consumer. Also a tech company doesn’t have the ability to transfer a customer service chat to a supervisor. Lmfao. I’m a knuckle dragger so could t figure out how to add a picture but see comments for the literal chat that has me smfh at this company.

    What a worthless post
  7. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago
Customer satisfaction worthless to customer service stock. A real investing guru you must be. If people stop using meta then meta can’t sell information and they go the way of many once dominant companies that were unassailable.
  8. u/Muntberg 1 17 hours ago
No one cares that you got mindbroken by a service bot, certainly not investors.

They are evil, but print money. I hold it begrudgingly. I'm planning to divest over time.
  14. u/Fapados 1 17 hours ago
Pretty much all of Meta's revenue comes from advertising (last time I checked, it was around 98%). Muse isn't there to make money from subscriptions, but to harvest even more user data for targeted ads.
  15. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago
Product has to work in order to harvest data.
  16. u/ensui67 1 17 hours ago
There’s reasons why the stock is going up. It works, people use it, they love it, and meta is making more money. Simple.

You got it sir zoop. I will let it run up more before I enter any puts. I would buy long expiry’s as I think this isn’t something that will turn around right away but 2029 ITM puts. Yes will eventually enter and will make sure to give you the position when I pull the trigger.
  23. u/NoPatient876 1 17 hours ago
It’s one thing to think the company is overbought or overvalued. But you’re also betting that it’s going to be worth less in 2+ years than it is now? Sounds excessively risky
  24. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago
I think their core model is unsustainable and that eventually they will be absolutely face fucked by lawsuits unless the Epstein class just buries justice once and for all in which case nothing fucking matters since we will just be poisoned and die from food insecurity/natural disasters while they retreat to their doomsday bunkers to wait out the avoidable apocalypse they are driving us towards.

Meta can bankroll this for the next 2 decades without breaking a sweat. So OP is right and Meta will wind down AI eventually but the money that goes there will not affect them meaningfully hence puts will go to waste.
  29. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago
Regulatory exposure is not priced in.
  30. u/Electrical-Ear2958 1 16 hours ago
What regulatory exposure. They'll just pay the 5m fine and be done with it. This is the world we live in now.
  31. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 16 hours ago
5m looks light to me. I think we will see numbers that make the 1.3 billion GDPR fine look like small potatoes.
  32. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 16 hours ago
17.1 billion settlement reached just in August. Some states want them to change algos and refuse to settle. This is from memory so fact check me.

Core business still a cash cow. AI a bonus. Long 300 shares. See ya at 800+. You won't actually short.

  37. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago

  39. u/maddogisnextdoor 1 17 hours ago
lol the reality is that no matter how awful META has been in misformation and privacy issues, Zuck is a FOD(friend of Don). So, META will do well til q2 2029. Buy your puts then.
  40. u/Kagemand 1 17 hours ago
Scraping rules are DEAD. In the future you won’t be able to detect AI with requesting webcam access… Which AI could still fake. Genie is out of the bottle.
  41. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago
Time will tell but it’s not dead yet. https://mashable.com/tech/judge-allows-mo…
  42. u/Kagemand 1 17 hours ago
Thing is, you can’t stop ordinary people from getting their Qwen bots on their 16gb graphics card at home to not scrape Reddit. Given it’s technically possible to have undetectable bots it is a war they will lose.
  43. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 16 hours ago
Glad they’re going to be fucked along with the rest of us.
  44. u/EarlyBird001 1 17 hours ago
META is one of the few companies I wouldn't short along with GOOG and AMZN.
  45. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 17 hours ago
At least I’ve been long goog and zon since 2014. Will Make up for this apparently dumbass move according to the brilliant commenters on this post.

Haha you are just dim witted mate. Please don’t take it as an offence because most people are dumdums. Let me help you understand how Meta ‘s business works. It’s main revenue is from ads. Sure during any economic crisis ads will be less shown but it impacts all the stocks and not just Meta. Even if AI bubble bursts Meta will go down obv but will be one if the first ones to pick up because again, its revenue sources wont change in the event of AI bubble. AI is real. Its impact is real. What’s unreal is valuations. When AI bubble bursts it will impact companies with crazy valuations like Open AI and Anthropic and many others. Hope you were able to understand mate. Cheers if you werent. You can always use an AI agent to understand in depth of every point I talked about.

  52. u/Zealousideal_Wall627 1 17 hours ago
They spend abunch of money on AI and if it makes no money so what? They just go back to printing money. If anything the stock will rally like frazy cause they stopped the capex.
  53. u/DenimChicken50 1 17 hours ago
They just did a 40B settlement and have accumulated a 130B AI budget that they’re just starting to spend right now. Their revenue mostly comes from advertising and they’ve data mined all the people who’ve tried Muse out already, which is yet to be reported. They also successfully limited the advertising reach of The Social Reckoning, so now it’s bombing, and because of that so many people won’t even see it, Which could’ve done serious damage to their reputation. What is your time horizon on these puts?
  54. u/hewhosleepsnot OP 1 16 hours ago
2029+. Haven’t entered yet but if they run higher without more meaningful metrics than people really like our new AI! Then I’m going to look to profit. May never enter but it’s on my radar now. Depends on whether I think justice will ever be served but I think there’s a lot of social unrest fomenting and if it boils over before billionaires have enough AI powered kill bots to get the masses then I think companies like these that have consistently violated laws and spat on the rights of consumers will get fined to extinction. Might be a bit of a pipe dream given the current state of affairs but I like to be optimistic once every year or so. Glad I was able to generate some convo and get people riled up tho.
  55. u/Fun_Equivalent9773 1 17 hours ago
it looks like it will go down over the next two weeks
  56. u/Livueta_Zakalwe 1 16 hours ago
If/when we have a deep recession, the first thing companies cut back on is advertising, so META and GOOG will get crushed. If/when.
