Windows at Work, Mac at home. Got fed up of switching habits, so I built Toobl
As title says, going back and forth was messing my head as I would reach for the same shortcuts, look for things in the wrong place, and keep fighting my own muscle memory.
I tried Parallels Desktop, but running it took lots of storage and memory than I wanted. I have a 24gb RAM and PD ate quite a bit of it. I also tried a few paid apps, but none really did what I needed.
So I ended up making something for myself.
It’s called Toobl. It brings a Windows-style taskbar, Start menu, file explorer etc. It doesn’t run Windows or install .exe files but it gives me the familiar bits I kept missing.
Along the way, I added a few things I found useful, including a quick view of how the Mac is doing and a basket for sharing files and folders with friends nearby.
I shared it with a few friends, and they’re all using it now, which made me think I should share it here too.
You can have a look here: toobl.app
I’ll put **20 invite codes in the comments**. Each person can then share their 3 invite codes from app.
I’m using codes to keep the number of new users manageable while I work through feedback and fix bugs. Each code works once.
It’s still early, so if something feels awkward or breaks, please tell me. Especially if you also spend your day switching between Windows and Mac.
