What is wrong Google, why is Gemini so bad

Whenever I want a summary of a YouTube video, I paste the link into Gemini. Then I take Gemini's summary and paste it into ChatGPT to get a proper analysis. That's how much better I find ChatGPT. What I can't understand is how Google, with its virtually unlimited resources, data and talent, is being so comprehensively outperformed in user experience by OpenAI, a much smaller company. Am I the only one who sees this? Gemini feels miles behind ChatGPT in reasoning, nuance, and actually understanding what I'm asking. People argue that AI models will become commodities. But if that were true, why is the difference between these two products so noticeable? So what is Alphabet doing? How can they not get it right? Will this change overnight when they introduce a new mode?

I don't quite understand: you asked ChatGPT to analyse a summary provided by Gemini and find ChatGPT's output better than Gemini's? You did not ask them the same thing. For one you asked for a summary, and for the other an analysis.

It's because gemini is more receptive to youtube videos. You put a youtube video in chat and it can't access it

I put your post into Gemini and it said this is a valueinvesting sub, not your personal blog

I did the same but asked to be sarcastic: *Oh look, another completely unique and groundbreaking observation that definitely hasn't been posted on Reddit five thousand times today.* *Would you like me to help you* ***turn this into a spicy blog post****, analyze the* ***corporate bureaucracy*** *making Google move like a glacier, or just continue* ***validating your frustration****?*

If you use Chrome, Gemini is built right into the browser. You can ask it to summarize the YouTube video without copy and pasting so it knows what you're talking about. It can even summarize articles behind a paywall.

The Innovator's Dilemma. Google came up with the Transformer (the T in ChatGPT) back in 2018, i believe. But they were afraid it would disrupt search, so they sat on it. That is, until ChatGPT was released in 2022. Then Google had a huge "Oh shit!" moment and have been in a panic to catch up ever since. Long story short, OpenAI needs AI to work to even have a business. Google wishes AI didnt even exist. Naturally, OpenAI will be better at AI than Google. And you mentioned resources. The top resource for AI is the talent. And the talent is probably more likely to work at a Frontier Lab than a company like Google or Meta who passed on AI initially.
