In 2026, does every new iOS app submission trigger Guideline 2.1 (Information Needed)?
Hi everyone,
I've been submitting a new app to the App Store in 2026, using an Apple Developer account that already has other published apps.
Recently, I received a **Guideline 2.1 – Information Needed – New App Submission** message from Apple.
Apple requested a screen recording captured on a physical device running the latest iOS version, demonstrating the app's functionality, along with additional information about the app.
I'm wondering if this has become a common review process in 2026.
A few questions for developers who have recently submitted new apps:
1. **Does almost every new app submission now receive this Guideline 2.1 request?**
2. Is this happening more frequently with AI-powered apps?
3. Does it also happen to established developer accounts with existing published apps?
4. After submitting the requested screen recording and information, did your app get approved, or did Apple request additional materials?
I'm specifically referring to the **"Information Needed – New App Submission"** request, not a rejection caused by crashes or incomplete functionality.
Would love to hear about your recent experiences in 2026. Thanks!
