Two-app setup where App B can't even be entered without AppA, how do you get past App Review (4.2.3)?

Hey everyone, I'm about to submit my first apps and I'm worried about a review problem. Maybe someone here has been through this. **My setup** I'm building a family safety product that only works with two devices and two apps: a "family" app and a "senior" app. The senior app does very little on its own. Everything beyond a pairing screen sits behind a hard paywall, and that paywall can only be unlocked through the subscription in the family app. So App B has no way to sign in or get past the paywall without App A. **Why I think it's a problem** As far as I can tell, Apple's guidelines have no exception for apps that belong together. Guideline 4.2.3(i) says an app has to work without requiring another app to be installed. As I read it, a reviewer who opens the senior app and only sees a paywall could count that as a failure, however good my explanation is in the review notes. As far as I know, apps also can't be submitted as a bundle, so each one is probably reviewed on its own. I haven't confirmed that, so correct me if I'm wrong. **Options I'm weighing** **Demo account that skips onboarding and the paywall.** The reviewer can get in, but then they never see the onboarding, which is part of what they review, or the paywall and subscription terms (3.1.2c). That could cause its own rejection. **Fixed review code.** The backend accepts a non-expiring code for one demo account only, and I list it in the review notes. My pairing code normally rotates every 10 minutes for security, so a permanent code should only exist for that account. **Manual code entry next to the QR code.** A short typed code as a real feature, so pairing works on one device too. **One app with role selection** ("I'm family" / "I'm senior"). No second app needed, so 4.2.3 and 4.3(a) stop being an issue, but it means a rebuild. **Ask Apple first** through the App Review contact and describe the two-device concept. **My questions** Has anyone shipped a two-app pair where one app depends on the other? How did the review go? Does a demo account that skips onboarding and the paywall get through, or does the reviewer ask to see it? Would you merge into one app to avoid the risk, or keep two apps and explain it in the notes? Thanks for any experience you can share!

Guideline 4.2.3(i) says an app has to work without requiring another app to be installed. You answered your own question. Time for a rebuild.

Great job. You just built something against Apple guidelines. You can fire your AI for falling you.

    What a shitty design tho

You built something they explicitly ban and would be easily dealt with if you had any understanding of actual app development.

    One app, 2 roles. Rebuilt
