After posting on 100+ SaaS directories, I finally realized: if the live URL isn't indexed, it’s completely useless !

Submitting your project to software directories sounds like a great long-tail traffic strategy, but a lot of founders end up wasting hours on listings that Google never picks up. If the page stays unindexed or locked behind a paywall that slow discovery traffic never actually happens.
Before spending time submitting to any directory, here are two simple checks you should add to your workflow:
1. **Check previous listings:** Search for a product that was added to the directory about a month ago. If Google hasn't indexed their page, it won't index yours either. 2. **Check the page architecture:** Look for active category and "X alternative to Y" pages. People who are actually looking for tools land on these pages, not the homepage feed.
**Bonus tip:** When writing your listing copy, format it for search queries people actually type into Google (e.g., *"Alternative to \[Competitor\]"*) rather than using your marketing launch tagline.
Have you checked which of your directory listings actually pop up when you search for your product name?
