An AI fitness app told me to deadlift 300kg. It was one of the reasons I built my own

Disclosure: I'm the solo developer of the app im talking about. I've been lifting for 10 years and coding for 12. I'm self-taught and I built SweatCoach for myself. I was using chatbots to build workouts then putting them into a tracker. I wanted one app that handled this and setting up supersets properly. I also wanted it to help beginners understand what they're training and how to do it right, because I remember being that beginner. What got me into the gym was I'd started to hate how I looked in the mirror. I was a heavy smoker and a few flights of stairs were hard work. One of the things that pushed me to build my own was trying an Al fitness app. It put a 300kg deadlift in my program (for reps!) My PR is 200kg. The Al workout generator in SweatCoach tries to do the opposite. You pick the muscles, how long you've got, your level and where you're training. It also takes your injuries into account and the weights it suggests start from what you've actually lifted before, not a guess. Once you start the work out it even has warmup exercises based on what you are about to do to help you prep properly. Then I took the app to my gym and started talking to people about it, from brand new lifters to older guys who've been at it for years. I've tried to remedy some of the pain points from the other apps. A lot of the features since came out of those conversations. One of my favourites is the 'currently sweating' feature that shows when your gym buddies are training. Straight answer on Al, since someone will ask: yes, I've had help from Al, but I've coded it and had it fully quality checked manually by QA engineers before submitting to the stores. It's early days. It's on iPhone and Android, with Apple Watch and Wear OS apps, and it's free to start: https://sweatcoach.co.uk/go If you want to try it, make an account, then DM me and I'll give you 3 months of Pro free. In return I'd love honest feedback! app download

😂 not quite! I’ve created a more realistic algorithm for estimating what users can lift by inputting their existing data and their previous exercise experience (as well as factors such as age, height, weight) to give users a workout program they can actually follow and progress with.

I am sorry but “I have experienced X so I built my own” doesn’t work it anymore. It was a cool thing 6 months ago but it lost its meaning.

It was the original reason for building but I see your points. What would you have titled this?

I don’t know. Promotion, especially on Reddit, is so difficult. I had used the same “template” before, but everybody used it and now, it looks bad. That’s all I know.

You realize the body of this post is empty right?

I agree with you there is a wave of AI slop out there, this is not one of those apps

Obviously it is. Gym apps are like level 1 of ai slop apps. You think your prompting is sooooo magical that yours is not slop??? Lol. Show this to ur parents to get praise. Dont spam reddit and try to build a "business".

I welcome you to try it and see for yourself, if you still think it’s slop then I’d love to see why. I’ve spent over a year building and using this before launching. Maybe read the post before commenting?

Why would i waste my time? You are dunb enough to think you can prompt AI and become rich. We are way to far off base to come to any agreement.

*dumb. I’m not trying to get rich here, I made something for myself and I think other people might enjoy using it. If exercise is not your thing that’s fine.

You are trying to sell it for money. You are not giving it for free. This dumb post is "promotion" for ai slop. I promise you, in 5 months or 12 months you will 100% abandon this because it is slop.

It’s a free app and as the post says that I’m giving 3 months of the pro version for free. I’ve been creating apps since 2014, I’ve got no intention of abandoning anything. I see your point but I’m trying to get users and build a fitness community, not profit off of ‘AI slop’.
