how are you sourcing who just raised for outbound without paying crunchbase enterprise money?

spent a while trying to get a clean feed of fresh funding rounds for outbound and the options were worse than i expected. crunchbase gates the good data behind an enterprise seat, the cheap scrapers hand you rounds with no source so you cannot tell what is real, and half the lists are weeks stale by the time they reach you. what i landed on was pulling it from an api instead of a dashboard, so the agent can grab it on demand. the one i am using is prospectapis. a funding search takes a set of filters and returns the rounds with company domain, amount, date, investors and lead investors, and a source url on every single record, so i can open the announcement and verify before anyone drafts a line. it is 0.02 a record with 100 free a month and no seat, which is the part that actually made it usable for a small team, you pay for what you pull. the bit i did not expect to like, it also turns a domain into a short cited brief, so the rep is not cold opening on just the round, they have two or three real facts with links. every claim carries its source, which killed the usual argument about whether the data is made up. not saying it is the only way. curious what everyone else is doing here, are you buying a funding feed, scraping it, or just working off whatever shows up in your news alerts? and if you pay for one, does it give you the source per record or just the number?

This whole post is just a sneaky ad for your own API service.
