It is fine to keep in the USD MMF if you plan to use the funds for your US trades.

Yeah it’s good to earn the return unless you need to be able to withdraw it immediately.

I wouldn’t purposely exchange money to earn the extra 0.25% (subsidy cap depends on your membership level) but existing unused USD is fine.

It’s harmless and convenient. But you think those rates are good? Now is still low interest rate era.

thank u, i thought it would be good to have some interest

would it be wise to transfer some money from bank into this to earn some interest?

Which interest are you looking at? Don’t be tricked into higher interest rates for USD. You will lose money converting SGD to USD, and then USD back to SGD, to chase a 3+% interest rate, and furthermore USD is likely to weaken against the SGD. SGD interest rates are low because SGD is kept strong.

i am looking at the fullerton class A and i do convert to USD bc of US stocks. I DO SEE THE money loss converting SGD TO USD

But like DuePomegranate has said, if you convert your SGD to USD to park to generate interest, the other "loss" you'll experience is the potential fx loss / risk. For example (for illustration purpose): 11 Jan 2025: You changed 1000 SGD to 730 USD (0.73 rate) You earn 6% p.a. from 11 Jan 2025 till 11 Jan 2026 (extremely high interest rate btw): 11 Jan 2026: You have 773.8 USD. You convert this back to SGD is \~993 SGD (0.78 exchange rate). in 1 year you have lost money, even if the interest rate generated was 6% p.a. You actually could have "earned" 2.99% risk-free rate from T-bills [https://www.mas.gov.sg/bonds-and-bills/au…) Of course, this is purely an exaggerated (and cherry-picked example and it definitely can go the other way), but you need to see that the nominal interest rate doesn't necessarily mean that you'll make money. This is one of the risk you need to be clear on when you do this. But if your cash is earmarked to buy US stocks, of course its perfectly fine to park it in to the "Tiger Vault" as generating some money is better than not...

If your intention is to purposely change SGD to USD for this tiger vault to get higher interest I will suggest Chocolate USD instead. Their top up programme ensure you get guaranteed 4.1% and then now Oct additional 1% so total 5.1%. With this bigger buffer even you change SGD to USD and back to SGD you can get 2+ to 3%. But the top-up programme end 31 Dec 2026

Chocolate is not a stockbroker. It is a cash management and managed account platform.
