LI / AMLIF — the Falchani pilot is the next thing worth watching

The number that stands out in American Lithium’s September update is 88.7% lithium extraction from the Falchani test work. The 2024 preliminary economic assessment assumed 80% Good improvement, but the testing method matters here They used pilot equipment in a semi-continuous lab process. So this is encouraging early work, not confirmation that the full plant can keep delivering that recovery for months The pilot is installed and operating in Lima. The plan is to process 6 to 10 tonnes of material over at least three months at target rates There is quite a bit to learn from that run. Whether recovery stays consistent, whether the different stages work properly together and what happens when they stop testing individual equipment and run the whole process Costs are the other part. More recovery is useful, but how much reagent and energy does it take to get it? What is the product quality like across the run? Any downtime or changes needed? Those details would help put the recovery number into context LI / AMLIF still has financing and permitting ahead, and future funding could dilute shareholders. The pilot does not solve those issues. It does give the company a chance to produce better technical data for the next study The next useful milestone for LI / AMLIF is sustained recovery across the full pilot run, alongside product quality and operating requirements. Those results should give the next study a firmer basis than the earlier laboratory testing alone

88.7% extraction is a nice bump over the 80% baseline, but lab conditions always let you chase those extra points. The real question is how much of that holds once they’re pushing material through day after day. Reagent costs and energy draw are what I’d keep an eye on. You can hit great recovery numbers and still wreck your economics if the process is too hungry.

Yeah, that is the next thing to prove. The 88.7% came from semi-continuous lab work, so I would not assume the full pilot will hold that level yet. Even if recovery improves, the extra lithium has to be worth more than the extra cost of getting it out. Reagent use, energy and downtime will matter alongside recovery. A sustained run with those details would tell us a lot more than the headline number alone.
