One of the strangest things we’ve found in AI visibility audits: Googlebot can be perfectly happy while AI crawlers are having a completely different experience.

We’ve seen cases where: Googlebot → 200 GPTBot → 400/blocked ClaudeBot → inconsistent access PerplexityBot → WAF challenge And the analytics dashboard showed basically nothing unusual. Another example: The price was clearly visible to a human in the browser. But the raw HTML served to crawlers didn't contain the current price. The CDN was serving an older cached version. Human sees: **$39** Bot gets: **$29** Then the AI answer says the product costs $29. From an SEO dashboard, the site looked healthy. From an AI retrieval perspective, the data was wrong. This is why I’m starting to think: **SEO technical audits and AI visibility audits need different test cases.** Not just: “Can Google crawl this?” But: “Can an AI crawler retrieve the same product truth?” Anyone else finding these crawler-level discrepancies in production?
