I analyzed 361 investing tools and this is what I found

I have been collecting data on investing tools for a project that I am building. The dataset now includes 361 tools, so I analyzed the prices. Some results surprised me: * 289 tools, or 80%, have a permanent free plan. This does not include limited free trials. I verified that 268 of these tools do not require a credit card. * Of the 160 tools with comparable subscription prices, the median price is $20.83 per month. * 84% of paid tools cost less than $50 per month. Only 13 tools start at $100 or more. * AI tools have a slightly higher median price. However, when I remove plans that cost $100 or more, both AI and non-AI tools have a median price of $20. * API access has a clearer effect on price. Tools with API access have a median price of $27 per month. Tools without API access have a median price of about $18. * The number of categories that a tool covers has almost no connection to its price. * At least 31% of the lowest advertised prices require an annual payment. The company shows a monthly price, but the customer must pay for a full year. I used the lowest paid base plan for each tool. I converted annual prices to monthly prices.
