Please help me create a boring stock portfolio.
What do I mean by boring?
\-I mean non sexy yet critical businesses,I want to own businesses that are non tech basically.Kind of businesses that if they disappeared tomorrow they would be simply too difficult to replace and kind of businesses with very high barrier to entry. Also the kind of businesses that you simply can’t re-create today at the same scale without major government subsides.
I have a few businesses in my mind:-(I’m going to buy all of these but I’m open/really looking forward for suggestions for replacing any of them with a better company from that industry in your opinion or adding more)
1.L&T
2.Reliance and JIO (when it eventually lists)
3.Adani Ports and Enterprises
4.Great East Indian Shipping
5.Ultra Tech Cement
6.IRCTC and Titagarh Railway
7.NSE(when it lists eventually)
8.Axis Bank
9.Interglobe Aviation
10.Apollo Hospitals
11.Sun Pharma
12.Bharat Dynamics and Zen Tech/ IdeaForge
13.KPR Mills
14.Hindustan Copper and Zinc and Jindal Steel/TataSteel
15.Eicher Motors
This is about it from what I want, hopefully you guys get an idea about what I’m looking for.
Why not buy the Nifty50 ETF instead?
\-Because I like looking at individual stocks in my portfolio and the flexibility I have while controlling my own portfolio of adding and removing different stocks at my whim and not wanting to own certain companies in certain indexes.
Basically I love the autonomy it offered and it’s fun to look at your very own MF.
Why am I ignoring tech and other sexy businesses?
\-I am not!
I am saving around 10L to invest in mostly US stocks for their tech.
As if I invest in tech I want to invest in the best.
Same for other sectors like private space industry.
Eventually my goal is to have a 50-50 Domestic and International portfolio.
I’m still in my 20s so I understand that starting capital is quite low but that’s why I’m going to take my time slowly but surely building my portfolio so by the time I reach my mid 30s,it hopefully looks good.
