How amazing is it that since the start of this admin, it’s always just .1% away from expected? What a coincidence!

My pay raise is not matching this and I'm low key mad
  5. u/whatfresh_hellisthis 1 6 hours ago
I got 3% along with an email that outlined all the things the company does over and above for us and also to not expect a raise every single year. Well guess what? None of us actually got a raise, we all got a demotion because inflation is well over that 3%. I had no complaints about my place of employment until I got that email. I've gotten decent raises for 5 years until this year and sometimes companies can't give out large raises and I get that, but to be TOLD to be thankful just really irked me. I'm just mad at this point.

Mine was 2.5 with a comment from my manager that we are lucky to have jobs in this economy
  7. u/Hoosier2016 1 6 hours ago
Hey only 96% of people who want jobs actually have jobs!
  8. u/thisisthatacct 1 6 hours ago
I left my old job after showing my boss that my pay had been flat and slightly decreased over 5 years, despite me going from an IC to manager and managing projects and doing business development. He seemed flabbergasted that our "Merit raises" that didn't beat inflation weren't enough to keep me around

Our base is 3%, it’s not common they’ll give any higher for our yearly “CoL” raise. I’m slated for a promotion next month. With how the economy is, sales this year being generally low, and material costs being up, even though I’ve probably saved the company thousands of dollars in improvements this year alone, I am not expecting a big pay boost. I’m praying for one that would be substantial to my life, but I know how corporations work… Economies and government ran strictly by billionaires who either lacked it or lost touch with reality is damning to our country.

"as expected"? Do you mean that we have the biggest imbeciles in the gov offices ever and they cause our prices to raise daily?

How are we thinking that 3.4% is good? It’s 70% above target and has been so for an extended period
  18. u/Middle_Scratch4129 1 6 hours ago
I come here to say this every month. "Look see, inflation came on on target! Don't mind that the numbers are still shit and far off from where we want to be! Pump that Market". Or some shit like that.
  19. u/AcidRohnin 1 6 hours ago
I’m mean it’s also somewhat compounding right? It’s 3.4% from last month but last month was prob also 3-4% and this goes back to almost Covid times. I The number was trending down prior to trump but of course he has a way of absolutely ruining anything he touches.

0.1% was the month over month increase, this is year over year

In a bull market, stock markets love moving goal posts. Wall Street will catch up to Main Street eventually, but impossible to known when.

A bag of Doritos from 7-Eleven shouldn’t cost as much as a Chipotle burrito bowl.

Inflation would be even lower, if they replace the 32GB with 32MB RAM modules because of hedonistic improvements.
  26. u/ProofByVerbosity 1 6 hours ago
The same as the interest rates....there goes they need it above thw interest rate to help shrink some debt away

These numbers are very close to what the Cleveland website has. There is no fixing going on, just the reality of mildly elevated inflation on top of 2021-2022's worst inflation since the 70s-80s here that has people unhappy.  The Cleveland website does project an increase for next month so far on MoM btw, oil moved too late to affect July. I still think the Fed cutting signalled the inflation bottom regardless in 2024 honestly. Populist policies lead to higher inflation. It doesn't matter if it's our guys or "the bad guys." We'd have probably settled in around 2.2-2.5% inflation in Kamala world.

Hard to tell. She likely could have done a bunch of stimulus and drive it higher. Although I doubt shed be in a pissing contest with Iran and losing

so everyone with 1 -2% raises (our companies profit grew 20% but we all got 2% raises) got a paycut. We have been getting paycut since we have been off the gold standard.
