Unrealized profit 8k to 1.8k

I invested into NOK back in 2021 and then was negative like 4k on it for like 5 years but never sold. NOK blew up few months ago and I watched it climb to 8k unrealized profit, and then watched this thing drop all the way back down to 1.8-2k profit. Thoughts on how you would approach this, the NOK threads believe this will blow up so I’m reluctant to sell to miss a massive growth stock like NVDA or MU. But part of me is saying sell it and invest in VTI/VXUS.

Sell it when you feel you need the money for another investment. Remember though that time is also a currency.

Idk how to approach now, that’s up to you. In the future remember that what goes up must come down sooner or later. How far and when is impossible to say. So all you can do is make a decision when you come to that kind of profit. Usually a smart choice is to at least pull your initial investment and then play with house money if you’re ok with losing it. If not take maybe 50% as profit or all profit, or anywhere in between as your risk tolerance allows. If the money doesn’t matter much to you and you can still pull out your initial investment at this point then I would and you can play with the rest but that’s just me

Specific stock threads will usually be THE most bullish investors. It’s people who are seeking out validation on their investment. That’s not who you want info from. It will be way more rosy than reality. Nok might be great or might be a lemon, I dunno, It’s not a stock I’m familiar with, but I do know that evaluating it you want someone impartial and dispassionate.

Do you want us to pick your dinner too? Do your own research. What was the reason you bought it in the first place?

I saw some news that Nokia is doing well lately. I'm a complete beginner at investing, but i'd take some of profit maybe all of it. It's okay now after 5 years of patience.

I got it really low but got out at about 7 bucks a share but never bought back in. My thinking: their survival depends on blocking China. We all can't keep blocking China forever. Plus, I wanted the money for META (not my smartest move).

I'm holding. 6g will come eventually, and given the low cost base, it wouldn't surprise me if it develops into a tenbagger

Nokia has been on the downswing for so long. So when it all of a sudden spiked, I was shocked. Now, Nokia is not going anywhere IMO. They’re a staple in the world, but are not important enough to just be around forever as Nokia. I would bet they get bought out one day, by someone like Apple, Microsoft, or Nvidia (if the government doesn’t block it). Anyway, I absolutely expect Nokia to go up again, but when is another story. You could be in the negatives before that happens. So, it really depends on what you want to do? You have to learn when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em. This is not a decision we make for you. Don’t trust me though. My portfolio is all negative for two years now. I’m your friendly neighborhood gambler.

If you wouldn't buy it today if your position was in cash right now, sell it.

Lost in the sauce OP. Maybe it goes up, maybe it goes down, but Single ticker subs/posts are the worst place to look

No one knows what the future holds so it all comes down to your risk aversion. You can't let FOMO tell you what to do with your own money.

Stock trading crap thinking you’ll make money. NOK blew up in 2000.
