Iran has had the W for weeks if not months at this point.  Thats what happens when you have a news anchor running the military.  Ukraine changed warfare forever with Drones and we still thought going across the ocean would be fine attacking a defensive position.  Theres really no way around it. The US lost. We just need to hope we walk away from the ME or we are going to lose a lot of young men and women for 0 fucking reason.

\>attacking a defensive position A country full of mountains and caves with a decentralized shia military filled with people who want to give their life for jihad, who can make cheap very effective drones underground in said mountainous country, led by a person who just had his entire family killed by you, and which is next to a critical global waterway. Yeah I don’t see why it wouldn’t work /s
  8. u/concept12345 1 20 hours ago
Yup a country much much bigger than Afghanistan as mountainous perhaps even more mountainous than afghnistan

You'd think no one had gamed that out before 2026.
  11. u/Lithiumxxxl 1 11 hours ago
This exact scenario has been gamed regularly by the military since the 80s with the result always being the same: Iran closing the Strait and essentially winning the engagement. Trump ignored all that, decided to attack anyway expecting a quick victory.

I know we lost badly but I heard some news that Trump maybe getting ready for ground troops if so than more people are gonna lose thier lives off this.
  16. u/tcmart14 1 20 hours ago
People have been forecasting that since the beginning. Not saying it’s not gonna happen, but Trump is so erratic and poorly plans so bad, there isn’t anyway to actually predict that. Boots could be touching down in 5 minutes or never.
  17. u/jakster355 1 18 hours ago
I think that's what's going to happen. By invading he can invoke the "patriot" angle, and recover support. Domestic pain can be ignored, at least by him. If you recall, the Iraq war was popular on the right until long after bush left office. Withdrawal/declaring victory, while us ships aren't allowed in and Iran charges fees is a pretty weak outcome optics wise. And if it goes to shit, which it probably will, it's the dangerous culmination of what happens when you take risks in a marketplace you can't declare bankruptcy and try again in.

  22. u/tcmart14 1 20 hours ago
No kidding. Iran won enough as soon as Trump said they blew up their navy and all their air capabilities and Iran was still hitting targets with the “destroyed a thousand times over” missiles.
  23. u/highlyregtardedtake 1 20 hours ago
Winning according to Iranian bots: bombs flying overhead Complete destruction of leader alongside 60+ top officials Local bridge destroyed Military destroyed, what’s left is hiding in caves Having to keep executing people in public so the others don’t rise up. Starving unruly population Currency devalued 80% in one year. Losing according to Iranian bots: Gas $1.50 more per gallon
  24. u/tcmart14 1 20 hours ago
You can say that all you want. I served and this is a total failure. And the lies from the admin especially hearing from guys I know over there. Winning according to MAGA: “destroyed their capabilities 50 million times over, we don’t know why they finding ways to hit air ports, oil infrastructure and ships.”
  25. u/highlyregtardedtake 1 19 hours ago
It is a failure but that doesn’t mean Iran is winning.
  26. u/Lloyd--Christmas 1 19 hours ago

Sure, and who control the oil flowing in the region? All the stuff you mentioned and yet the US is losing. To win you don’t need to curb stomped your enemy, you just need to make it leave on your terms which Iran is getting
  34. u/highlyregtardedtake 1 20 hours ago
Guess where that oil went dipshit. Straight to US based companies drilling US oil.
  35. u/Gothewahs 1 13 hours ago
Your oil comes from Canada that you use did you not know that ? You 1 refinery can’t even process Venezuelas oil.. did I mention all your power comes from Canada to ? Probably smart to not start a trade war with you main supplier of everything that keeps you going .. but here we are watching you try to shit on them as well
  36. u/highlyregtardedtake 1 20 hours ago
  37. u/soyel_cerdo 1 19 hours ago
Clearly poor dipshit regarded (like his own user name) can’t fucking understand that oil is fungible, and if the US produces oil, it not “for the American people” oil like in Denmark but it is “corpo” gains All those oil companies are making a fucking bank while the working class like me pays through the ass to get fuel and guess what, Mr Regarded, everything runs on oil so the more expensive it is, the more expensive everything becomes.

  43. u/mansfall 1 20 hours ago
But it hasn't. Iran is absolutely screwed. Their only economic spine is oil. Their economy is in shambles. US on the other hand has deep pockets, and a military that squashes them like a fly. The US Navy can stay there for years to come if necessary.
  44. u/Fishkillll 1 18 hours ago
all that needs to be done is confiscate Irans tankers when they all leave port and end up on the high seas.
  45. u/Neinhalt_Sieger 1 15 hours ago
And what about the world other tankers? How would they enter the strait? You haven't thought about this that far, am I right?
  46. u/erov 1 18 hours ago
So another forever war, the the American public has no stomach for. Money's already tightening .. and to what end? I get what you're saying though. They COULD.. but should they? What's the end game or justification this week?
  47. u/andywarhorla 1 15 hours ago
this is some “rome strong, will last forever” thinking. we’ve shot enough million dollar rockets at $50 drones in the last 5 months to the point our capabilities will take years to rebuild, and putting us at a disadvantage if a real threat emerges (I would not put iran in a real threat category). our unilateral actions in the middle east have alienated allies but apparently we don’t need any besides israel (at least with the iraq war we bothered to build a coalition). US hegemony is propped up by the petrodollar, which this whole misadventure has put in jeopardy. what strategic victory are we accomplishing here? we certainly aren’t making the world safer, and ending iran’s nuclear program isn’t even on the table anymore. as if iran having nukes would be the end of the world anyway - they’d just be another country with a deterrent weapon, which is almost redundant at this point since we’re already so deterred we won’t put boots on the ground after 5 months of fiddlefucking around. we abandoned a successful decades-long strategy of containment with iran because somebody caught a napoleonic hardon, and now the answer is “we’ll just hang around in the ocean for decades.” our own regulatory bodies have been defanged to the point where the SEC, FDA, and CDC can’t perform their basic functions. the stock market is an insider gambling house built on an AI house of cards. our own food poisons us. once mandatory childhood vaccinations are ended, there goes herd immunity. people are on a treadmill of getting laid off then spending months or years looking for work. many have just given up looking. meanwhile china watches and waits. we may not be in shambles, but we’re speeding down the highway at 120mph thinking nothing can touch us, acting like we’ve forgotten that every society is 9 meals away from chaos.
  48. u/HomeboddE 1 10 hours ago
American lives can be lost for years to come...
  49. u/BenjaminHamnett 1 19 hours ago
Yeah, drones be giving imperialists whove been preparring for the last war a big wakeup call
  50. u/Parallel-Play 1 18 hours ago
I’ve heard it was made quite clear to Trump and the administration that this was not a winnable war and forward they went. It makes you truly question motive and for who we did this. It could be as simple as ego, I think that would be a bit of an oversimplification, but it’s possible.
  51. u/CitizenPremier 1 14 hours ago
Trump seized Venezuelan oil. He found a way to make oil prices go up. It could be as simple as that.
  52. u/Electrical_Panda_326 1 11 hours ago
We all know who he did this for.
  53. u/HomeboddE 1 11 hours ago
Israel manipulated him into spending US taxpayer money and US lives to fight their war
  54. u/MotherRepair6307 1 15 hours ago
Iranian Here. The Iranian Government is making the same mistake they made with Saddam Hussein in 1987, where they thought they could push him around and declare an eventual victory. Instead they pissed off a crazy person so badly that he started using Chemical Weapons that forced an eventual ceasefire with the Iranians on the same border. Except with the US it won’t be chemical weapons….
  55. u/CitizenPremier 1 14 hours ago
Interesting. What do people around you say about the war? Do they think Iran will lose?
  56. u/bostaff04 1 13 hours ago

  62. u/Zipz 1 23 hours ago
Whataboutism This account is not accurate at all They’ve contradicted themselves multiple times just this week No one defended American propaganda here So why are you defending this account ?

  67. u/ProfessionalActive94 1 22 hours ago
Well, if Trump is a liar and Iran is a liar, who should I trust? Trump has lied about the conflict 100+ times at this point? Are you mentally incapable?
  68. u/Zipz 1 22 hours ago
Why do you guys keep pretending I’m saying trumps reliable ? Hey here’s an idea when both sides lie maybe we shouldn’t believe neither side Crazy concept right ?
  69. u/ProfessionalActive94 1 21 hours ago
If one side says one thing and the other says the exact opposite, then you believe we should believe neither? If one says the straight is close and the other says it's open, then who should we believe? Your opinion is unbelievably stupid. Additionally, if your only argument is that this news source is unreliable, why aren't you also criticizing the Trump administration, which is constantly lying? It seems that you are attempting to appear impartial while favoring the US administration's version of events.
  70. u/Zipz 1 21 hours ago
Again both sides are proven liars Theirs no reason to accept what ether side says Why are you pretending otherwise ? This isn’t a news source. This is a twitter propaganda account.

What do you consider Trump's truth social messaging? Its propaganda. You're a fool if you think otherwise.

You don't need a navy to project strength a few miles offshore as long as your on shore positions are defended. It's even easier this way, ships are big targets with limited places to hide
  101. u/chees3lover89 1 22 hours ago

Sorry but this is just stupid. We’re low on tomahawks and some other air defense missiles. The USA military is not a paper tiger by any measure.
  115. u/Blandt24 1 20 hours ago
We are low on all those missiles and cannot replace them. We don’t have the capacity. We are using all this expensive equipment we can’t make fast enough to compete against drones and mobile launch trucks. We’ve pulled interceptors away from Asia to compensate, but that means we’re exposed. What happens if there’s another conflict?
  116. u/butareyouthough 1 21 hours ago
Yeah he’s not gonna do any of that. He simply just lost and made all of our lives worse in the process
  117. u/Condhor 1 22 hours ago
Wow shocker, we lost this worse than Vietnam. If only an entire constituency voted for no new wars, we'd be better off if that happened. Oh wait, we did. And we were betrayed.
  118. u/Its_Knova 1 22 hours ago
The only thing that can make this L worse is if they use boots and then lose.
  119. u/Condhor 1 22 hours ago
We would lose. Guaranteed. Iran is an entirely different area geographically, in size, and mountainous terrain. We’d never have realistic victory. Israel would without a doubt fire a nuke in “defense”. We’d lose another 50k men and $6T dollars over the next 4 years and radical Islam would still hate us.
  120. u/Impossible-Metal2737 1 18 hours ago
Issue is the US military will grab any tactical objective it is assigned temporarily but cannot hold anything strategic without politically unacceptable loss of life. I think they will cycle: insider trade - escalate- insider trade -deescalate till after the mimid terms. Then the dumb cluster bombs and gazification will begin, and the neighbors will bear the brunt of the response.
  121. u/Septon3 1 22 hours ago

Trump is dragging it on. They’re resupplying while every day the Iranian economy continues to crumble. I know you guys hate trump, he’s an absolute buffoon, but the Iranian regime is much more evil and destructive than you even realize. Trump will be gone soon and we will have a normal decent guy in there - probably a 2-3 terms of Democratic Party in the White House . We need the USA to win, not Iran. Look at the super powers coming into play on the global stage. China - communist/dictatorship, Russia - dictatorship/“democracy”, Saudi Arabia - dictatorship. USA needs to continue to win because they are the only true power house democracy in the world. Europe is already too far gone. If you want human rights, women rights and freedom in general, you want the USA to win. Trump is the not United States of America, he is a minor blip in us history.

Idk what everyone is talking about, our glorious god king won the war against every planet in the world by 5d preemptive tarifs and by pushing green clean fuel as the principle energy source. Mission accomplished octane warriors, time to come back to the freest continent.
  150. u/Stellar_Impulse 1 21 hours ago
People forget this wont stop until Israel says its over and theyll use Trump as much as they can
  151. u/Flannel_Panels 1 21 hours ago
Yeah, trump doesnt have the balls to nuke anyone and I'm almost certain they wont let the dementia vessel fuck up their power grab. Trump has never been in control. Theres a reason why he cares more about the ballroom than the war. Thats what hes actually in control of. Everything else is JD and Jared. If Trump nukes Iran, everything they have fought for in the last 5 years would be for nothing.
  152. u/mattwaggy 1 21 hours ago
I can’t stand Trump, but I’m not buying this propaganda crap. We haven’t even really tried militarily to control the straight or defeat Iran. We just made sure they militarily only have one play. Credit them for playing that play, but these outlets act like our six-week air war and naval blockade is all we have and now we are out of answers. Lol. The US has been playing tit-for-tat attacks while “negotiating” and quietly rearming. And Trump’s greedy ass has used war tweets to bounce markets around so his homies can make bank. But don’t think for a second that the U.S. got owned by Iran. That’s horseshit.
  153. u/TIFU_Examiner 1 21 hours ago
You can think what you want. The US can’t resort to more military strikes as Iran can respond similarly to Israel and the other gulf nations, which the US can’t defend them from. The US lost.
  154. u/znebsays 1 21 hours ago
It’s pure propaganda and social media and Reddit eating it up. The naval blockage is absolutely effective on reducing Irans main profit. There are tons of articles on that recently indicating it’s losing close to 400m a day. Both sides are not trust worthy but to accept anything coming out of the Hormuz letter is pure propaganda but Reddit users will screech at the sky saying it’s correct because they hate the American leadership
  155. u/flowithego 1 19 hours ago
You do realise the Wall Street Journal is the source article, right? And that Iran outlasting the blockade is intrinsically linked to how long the global energy market can cope with ~20% of the global supply being disrupted. The single most inflationary input. Period. Brent touched $120 a barrel and if it wasn’t for the TACO trade manipulating the markets, it’d be sat there today, with highs of $150 until demand destruction led to worldwide recession of biblical proportions. If the US could solve this militarily, it wouldn’t blockade. If the blockade solved this, US wouldn’t continue strikes or threats of strikes on infrastructure. It’s fucking diabolical you can’t read this simple macro event for what it is and are instead commenting *ermergerd propergendar* in an investment sub, albeit smallstreet.
  156. u/znebsays 1 18 hours ago
Nothing you said made any sense. Just a bunch of gibberish honestly unreal just how out of touch some of you are and think you’re some sort of an armchair general lol.
  157. u/smolhouse 1 21 hours ago
I do think they bit off more than they can chew, but people are either kidding themselves or are woefully ignorant if they think the U.S. energy industry isn't benefitting from reduced ME supply or that the blockade isn't hurting Iran. I think the main reason they are trying to calm down tensions is the impact that higher gas prices could have on midterms.
  158. u/MimiVault 1 21 hours ago
Anybody that understands anything about the US military knows losing is not an option. Reddit propaganda is disgustingly outta control on this subject
  159. u/cheapskateinvestor 1 20 hours ago

It was doomed from the start. Unless Trump was willing commit to another Vietnam. Everyone knew trump was not so it was doomed from the start.
  164. u/ttircdj 1 20 hours ago
Or another Japan. Which he also is not willing to do.
  165. u/LeftValuable6614 1 20 hours ago
Of course not. His cowardice might be his best quality. So we got a small humiliation instead of another generational war. The only sad thing was how predictable it was. All of this was written in stone the moment Iranian leader was killed.
  166. u/slum_dandy 1 19 hours ago
He started the war. But we should be grateful he's a coward?
  167. u/BenjaminHamnett 1 19 hours ago

  168. u/Lloyd--Christmas 1 18 hours ago

    Oh yeah? with what exactly?
  170. u/HomeboddE 1 11 hours ago
They manipulated him into paying gor their war and getting our soldiers injured and killed
  171. u/LeftValuable6614 1 18 hours ago
I am not happy about it. The fuck nut should have done nothing. But when the bombing started, everything lined up for another Vietnam. We are saved from the worst consequences of his incompetence by his cowardice.
  172. u/Confused_Orangutan 1 17 hours ago
It was so predictable that under Obama they ran war games and every time the Iran team closed the straight.
  173. u/LeftValuable6614 1 17 hours ago
100% Iran is 4 time the size of Iraq and 2x as populous. Ground war was not on the table at anytime. And everyone knew it. Trump thought he can bluff it, but everyone can see his cards. It is such a sad display in complete incompetence. He think he is making big moves while the world is rolling their eyes.
  174. u/general_o_neil 1 13 hours ago
I remember that he was dumbfounded that Iran didn't surrender when the aircraft carriers arrived.

1d chess against 4d chess. Actually the 4d player wins by inactivity of 1d. To change that weaponry arsenals need to be refilled and NATO will be threatened by 100% tariffs if not joining Trumps ( hopeless) D-Day in Iran. And for such a thing he wont be backed by his people...
  177. u/yurnxt1 1 20 hours ago
Why do I keep seeing "The Hormuz Letter" Twitter account quoted here when it's pretty clearly a biased and unreliable source of nothing other than propaganda. Nothing it says matters.
  178. u/SeatpitchbyKate 1 20 hours ago
If you take the time to go back and review what the Hormuz letter has posted the last six months, I am pretty sure their posts are going to be closer to the truth of what was actually happening -- as opposed to anything that was coming out of the White House. Much less Trump's mouth or midnight rants. Forget the Pentagon. They don't say anything. At all.
  179. u/yurnxt1 1 20 hours ago
They're a known, sourceless, anonymous pro Iranian Twitter feed and nothing more. The administration is fucked in general however I'd rather hear jack shit than propaganda.
  180. u/Which-Indication4670 1 19 hours ago
Their source is apparently the Wall Street Journal

  186. u/Maddturtle 1 20 hours ago
Pure propaganda message…. Both sides are doing it but you all eating it up. Especially the master of it Iran. Trumps just an idiot trying to do it. He won’t win the propaganda war on this but by no means is Iran in a spot to call the shots.
  187. u/Confused_Orangutan 1 17 hours ago
You’re right. But for Iran to call a shot, they fire a rocket or two at a ship off their coast and it shuts down global export of oil. The US needs to put on place an entire naval blockade to achieve a stalemate. One side exerts leverage with much less resources. We the US squandered almost every advantage we have with a superior military. I want the US to kick Irans ass, but we can’t.
  188. u/Real-DrUnKbAsTeRd 1 20 hours ago
I think you're missing the real objective. Every day the straight is closed is another day the world had to buy oil from the US. Meanwhile, Venezuela production is being fast tracked to replace the Middle East within a year. US refineries were built to refine Venezuela's oil Every chance Iran takes to build a nuclear program will be demolished. Their economy will further decline until the people rise up and destroy their captors. The exit plan is never having to go back to the asshole of the world.
  189. u/slum_dandy 1 19 hours ago
Where's the evidence iran is building nukes? What was wrong with the Obama Iran deal, besides the fact Trump is a thin-skinned coward and broke the agreement because Obama made it?
  190. u/lostinspacs 1 20 hours ago
Maybe. Another possibility is that the Gulf wants to take some heat off of themselves now that master strategist Trump announced that he plans to rely on the blockade and take his time.
  191. u/Always_find_a_way24 1 19 hours ago
Sure. Let's just go with an anonymous account on X and take it as gospel
  192. u/Main_Product5071 1 19 hours ago
HAHAHAHAHAHAH COPEEEEEEEE Iran will get nuked into a wasteland before that happens btw. They can start a war onto American soil if they choose to. Up to them. That naval blockade is never going away if they don’t. They better be quick about it, it’s not gonna be pretty after the midterms. My prediction is that the worse trump gets humiliated in November, the flatter Iran will be in December and January. We’ll see.
  193. u/HovercraftFew5520 1 19 hours ago
Iran soon: “All Middle East oil must be paid for in Iranian Rials”
  194. u/AdorableMountain8746 1 18 hours ago
All of Iran is decimated. Top leaders dead. Total win for Iran lol….
  195. u/Mr-Magoo48 1 18 hours ago
What a fvcking loser. Most embarrassing world leader in my lifetime I think. He’s like a pigeon. He flew over to Iran, shit all over everything, scratched around for some food and now he’s done. Where’s the next war? Meanwhile, the adults in the room are now ignoring him, waiting for him to fly away or find something else new and shiny to take his attention
  196. u/Fancy-Committee-1770 1 18 hours ago
Ah yeah the Hormuz Letter a source with a credibility of a MAGA twitter account.
  197. u/jack0roses 1 18 hours ago
Iran's dominant position will only become more glaringly obvious as we quickly run out of oil reserves. Have you seen Mad Max?? Trump really shit the bed on this one.
  198. u/antwon8797 1 18 hours ago
This is all part of his deal skills. He’s got them on the ropes. They want a deal, but they can’t say it. And we will need to pay tolls for a while as part of the deal making process, and they aren’t restricted in making nuclear weapons while he makes the deal.
  199. u/SkipEyechild 1 15 hours ago
    Rofl
  200. u/Zipz 1 18 hours ago

  205. u/Much_Pomelo3033 1 17 hours ago
This is exactly why for decades, US presidents have ignored Israel and American war-hawks’ calls to attack Iran. This was always going to be an unwinnable boondoggle. Trump is just the first president dumb enough to go through with it.
  206. u/TechnicalSleep7501 1 17 hours ago
Not just W but cleaning the us from west Asia now.
  207. u/Traditional-Tune7198 1 17 hours ago
Man trump lost this one spectacularly . Iran just proved usa is powerless. The war god bleeds.
  208. u/ketya- 1 17 hours ago
They won it when trump (with his incompetent buddies) went in to this without thinking through how to win or how to exit. Worse is how he showed the weaknesses of the US to the rest of the world.
  209. u/Dependent-Ad-1600 1 17 hours ago
Can someone more knowledgeable about this tell me if Iran having permanent control over the strait of Hormuz will put them in a better position economically in the future than they would be in had the war never happened? Will the new extra income they collect put them on a path to being the next ultra-rich middle-eastern petrostate?

  213. u/SkipEyechild 1 15 hours ago
I really don't think a nuke will be used.
  214. u/AdDry4959 1 15 hours ago

  215. u/Strng_Satisfaction 1 15 hours ago
The whole plan is to have a perpetual war as some are profiteering from it. The war profiteering act needs to be enacted.
  216. u/lilwayne168 1 15 hours ago
Yea bet all of your money on "the hormuz letter" lmfao
  217. u/AF2005 1 14 hours ago
Lol he’s all out of wiggle room. He’s welched too many times during this entire debacle. The Iranians called his bluff, and now all they have to do is wait. Grandpa will never push the red button because he knows it will be the end of him and the entire republican establishment. It will also topple the various governments in the developed world. The funny part is just weeks before the war began, Iran was all but crippled. It appeared that the regime was on its last legs, looking for an exit strategy. Bibi and Grandpa President handed them one on a silver platter!
  218. u/ohgodthehorror95 1 13 hours ago
Israel will just fire a few missles and the the whole peace situation will be off again
  219. u/rv_ 1 13 hours ago
So instead Trump getting the passing fee, it will be Iranians and Trump gets nothing? So much winning going on here. I just want my gas prices to be reasonable.

America needs to invade or accept it has lost. There are no other endings here.
