Any news on SPCX ? The short interest percentage must be climbing.

First off, most stocks that are highly shorted do not squeeze. All the conditions can be perfect, and sometimes a business just sucks and it should be shorted. SPCX is at 25% SI. But not all the ingredients are there. It does have a very small available float because 95% of the shares are owned be insiders. The biggest problem with the setup is that it only takes 1.3 days to cover. Just like with HTZ, there is no scarcity. That doesn't mean it wont go back up. There are some signals that it will. But thats probably not because the shorts will be tripping over themselves to cover, unless something dramatically changes.

I did some research on this some time ago. numbers not exactly what I got but, 90% of the intraday pumps retrace at least 50% in the next week there is quite some money to be made but it needs money to make money in these given the risen IV

I still don't get it. For the last couple days, it only takes a single trading session for shorts to cover. 160% of the entire short interest has been traded in the last four sessions. The IV is at 167%. Again, this just look a game of chicken thats not going to end well.

Why would anyone naked short all the way expiry without covering when shares are easily available and price is rising due to retail interest. That makes no sense. I'm not sure what model you have in your mind on this whole thing. But I think a lot of people clearly don't really know what is going on, which is why I'm buying puts if it reaches 3.

Because there is no need for shorts to cover in a hurry. Also when institutions short, it's a small part of their total book so really they will not be margin called on it. Look at the volumes and IV in options. They are pumping the market with OTM options hoping to ignite a gamma squeeze. But the IV is so high that the premium burns away super quick. So when they bought calls as a hedge, the MM buys the shares to hedge. As the premium is burning off and IV drops, the MM starts selling shares putting pressure on the price. There is a little issue here that is that theta is normally quadratic / parabolic so theta will erode faster towards the end of the week. Also considder that the people holding shorts can cover by buying calls along with the rest of the crowd should they choose so, doesn't mean that they have to buy back the stock inmediately. I don't think todays pump was retail though. It feels engineerd, with a larger entity / institution behind it. I mean 100.000+ calls traded? Because it was put above $2.50 right away and the $2.50 was defended with large volume on some occasions. Smarter people than I have napkin mathed this out, and realistic per share value sits between $4 - 5.50. So either way, squeeze or nay, there is still value left in HTZ. It was 5-6 before the June drop. And with good earnings, and the meme status we see now....I dont see any short term downside.

None... its just a thought. I am thinking about getting in, but at the same time need to analyze. Not everyone holding Hertz is in hopes of a squeeze. Some will take profits... the secret here is to draw more buyers to increase buying pressure. If too many people take the profits... price will drop. Shorts win, but if more degenerates hop in.. then the squeeze will happen. Need to break the 3.00 price.
