Daily General Discussion and Advice Thread - August 11, 2026

Have a general question? Want to offer some commentary on markets? Maybe you would just like to throw out a neat fact that doesn't warrant a self post? Feel free to post here! If your question is "I have $10,000, what do I do?" or other "advice for my personal situation" questions, you should include relevant information, such as the following: * How old are you? What country do you live in? * Are you employed/making income? How much? * What are your objectives with this money? (Buy a house? Retirement savings?) * What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs? * What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know its 100% safe?) * What are you current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors? Any other assets?) * Any big debts (include interest rate) or expenses? * And any other relevant financial information will be useful to give you a proper answer. . Be aware that these answers are just opinions of Redditors and should be used as a starting point for your research. You should strongly consider seeing a registered investment adviser if you need professional support before making any financial decisions!

The market's a meditation on mass psychology. Every candle is a thought, and the trend is just the mood of the crowd.

The only thing that’s working for me right now is strong conviction in one or two tickers. My previous ability to ride the bull is gone. It’s not a bull market or a bear market. It’s a Koala market. A freaking half step above a sloth getting higher or lower, barely while it stones itself on eucalyptus leaves. I am experimenting with some new things. Taking multiple small bet chances on wildly illiquid warrants. Taking binary chances on early stage biotech. The dopamine hits I’m getting from it feel dirty but it scratches the junky itch. I miss the clean green highs of the bull market. I wasn’t always this degenerate. There was a time when I would ETF and chill. My biggest issue - and I’m sorry to psychoanalyze myself here - is that I don’t like loss. My biggest issue isn’t FOMO or even the admitted dopamine junky nature of my trading. When I go outside during trading hours and touch grass I’m not mentally chained to the markets. So, my biggest issue is I just don’t like losing money and it’s so much easier to lose money in a koala market than in a bull market.
