How to pivot to sales?

Currently in a year long contract in risk management. Thinking of pivoting to sales. Recently applied to sell coffee machine but did not hear back from my application. Trying to pick the brains of the wider population, how can I pivot to sales? 33M - market risk management background.

Sales is always hiring, it’s much much easier to pivot from back/middle office to front office. But not the other way round. Market risk management has much better career prospects though… not entirely sure why you want to pivot. Is it because of the potential high pay/comm?

Sales is an extremely tough line, you want to be in a sector where the thing sells itself you're merely in the way. Having a sales record helps tons, even better if same sector you could pull clients over. Helps if you're female which you are not, if sector is in tech / IT. If male you must be proficient in your products and customer needs. Or be in a sector with more female customers. Don't sell stuff they don't need. Grooming is important. Not look expensive, but a good ensemble.

Sales to me main thing is the ability to talk until got dragon got tiger and possess charisma and know see who use what phrase to sweet talk. This is important because this is the foundation. Next come to sell what which you need to pick up. Today sell coffee maker tomorrow sell toilet brush next sell mop next sell insurance next sell investment next sell more atas say IT solution or hardware etc etc basically anything that needs a buyer you sell. Hence the sky is the limit for sales key is the foundation must be strong. Then sell what is the add on layer.
