Personal CPF contribution for employees working overseas

Hello peeps. For those Singaporeans who are working overseas, do you still contribute to your cpf on your own accord? If yes, how many percent do you set aside? I do not own any property in Singapore but would like to purchase one in 2 or 3 years time. I was thinking if it is better to set aside these funds to an ETF portfolio instead. I do not wish to lock them for 20-30 years (like our current CPF). What is the impact of this? Will it be difficult for me to secure a HDB loan if my CPF is not moving because I set aside funds elsewhere? Thank you in advance.

You can pay in cash instead of CPF.

HDB loan evaluates using income, not CPF OA balance. (unless you never declare your income?)

If the country you’re working in has good savings product/MMF, might be better to keep there and be more flexible rather than putting in CPF, unless you also wanna grow some retirement savings here Alternative it might make sense to put into a SGD MMF/SSB if the currency you’re earning historically depreciates against the SGD. so you wanna take that into account ETF might not make sense for a 2-3 year holding period which is relatively short. If it’s 5-10 years and beyond then yes.
